I learned that Intel’s recent processors have a PL1 (PowerLimit 1) PL2 (PowerLimit 2) mechanism.

When I was experimenting with the 10900T, there was a moment during a benchmark when the clock dropped dramatically. I wondered why, so I investigated and hit PL1 and PL2. The details are explained in the video, but it seems that it is like a “short-time boost function” and that there are two levels of settings for how much the boost is increased and how long it is sustained, which are PL1 and PL2.

I’m learning a lot. You guys on the net really know a lot. I read the Intel specs for the first time, lol.
